Applications Of Solar Energy Draft Essay Applications Of Solar Energy Draft Essay Introduction: Applications of Solar Energy Solar Energy is the wave of the future. Its use has increased tremendously over the last decade. It is used in many different places and seems to be replacing the traditional methods of obtaining energy at an astounding rate. Itââ¬â¢s really no wonder why we would embrace the concept of Solar Energy. There are various ways this energy is used and even more way in which it has benefited todayââ¬â¢s society. Solar energy stands alone in its own class of sun powered energy. However, there are many diverse way as to how it can be used. Solar energy is the cleanest power generating systems today. It is not harsh on our environment making it a safe and wise choice. There is no pollution, noise, or hazardous waste as a result of this conversion of the sunââ¬â¢s energy. The electricity created is clean, reliable, and renewable. The use of Solar Energy also decreases our dependence on fossil fuel and other energy sources much less friendly on our environment by reducing greenhouse gases. Solar power systems are cost efficient and provide itââ¬â¢s users with fixed energy costs. As the use for this ââ¬Å"clean energyâ⬠increases so does the development opportunities and local jobs. The use of heat and light simultaneously obtained from the sun is a brilliant and beneficial asset to us on many different levels. Solar energy has propelled our economy and has driven us further into the future. Itââ¬â¢s no wonder why we are relying more and more on this type of energy. How we use Solar Energy In order to utilize the sunââ¬â¢s energy, there must be some type of conversion for channeling. This device is called Photovoltaic (PV devices). It can also be referred to as ââ¬Å"solar cellsâ⬠which transform sunlight into direct electricity. These PV cells are individually grouped into sections which are used in a vast array of applications sometimes ranging from small single cells that are capable of charging small watches, to larger, more complex systems that are capable of powering homes and even expanding to power plants that may cover many acres of land. Photovoltaic is a method used to generate electricity through solar radiation while transforming direct electricity by using semiconductors which display photovoltaic effect. This power generation uses solar powered panels consisting of numerous solar cells of photovoltaic material. There are several materials used to make photovoltaics including copper indium gallium, polycrystalline silicon, cadmium telluride, m onocrystalline silicon, and selenide/sulfide. As the demand for renewable energy increases, the development of photovoltaic systems and solar cells made astounding advancement over the past few years. Photovoltaic systems or PVââ¬â¢s rely on solar panels in order to change light from the sun into usable electricity. ââ¬Å"This system is made up of one or more photovoltaic (PV) panels, a DC/AC power converter (also known as an inverter), a racking system that holds the solar panels, electrical interconnections, and mounting for other components. Optionally it may include a maximum power point tracker (MPPT), battery system and charger, solar tracker, energy management software, solar concentrators or other equipmentâ⬠. A compact PV system would provide enough energy for one consumer, or even to an isolated device similar to a small weather instrument of lamp. Larger PV systems connected on a grid can provide enough energy for a large number of consumers. This electricity can be used directly, stored, combined with other generators fed through a small grid (called a hybrid plant), can be either stored, used directly (island/standalone plant), or fed into a large electricity grid powered by central plants. These systems are specifically designed to guarantee that the best (highest) energy yield for a given investment in obtained. Solar photovoltaics are one type of sustainable energy source used to convert sunlight into electricity. ââ¬Å"By the end of 2011, a total of 67.4 GW had

The Brain All You AreIs Here - Essay Example The hippocampus stores our long-term memories, and emotions are believed to be stored in the amygdala. The prefrontal cortex controls our judgments and helps moderate our behavior and rein in our impulses. It is also the region associated with future planning. As our judgment power has not reached maturity throughout puberty and in our early adulthood, we do not know how to control our impulses, therefore, our decision making is quite faulty, based on bad judgment. Talent and creativity also depend on our brainââ¬â¢s activity. The frontal lobe gives us the ability or talent, the temporal lobes and limbic system give us determination and incentive to express it. If the latter part of our brain is impaired, the former is bound to be affected adversely. Temporal lobe epilepsy is associated with symptoms of manic depression and mania. A study done on Buddhist monks showed that meditation can help alter our brain activity by causing more activity to occur in the left prefrontal cortex. The study also showed that meditating subjects showed a better immune response to flu shots than others. The brain continues to adapt and change throughout our adulthood. The brain has been shown to adapt to injury, molding itself to compensate for the damaged area of the brain. The hippocampus and grey matter have been also been found to grow and increase in size in response to our activities. Basic emotions can be recognized by the brain regardless of cultural differences, as was shown by a study done by Paul Ekman (in Shreeve 2005). The amygdala in our brain receives the sensory responses from environments that trigger fear responses and reaction to dangers, which, in turn, processes the stimuli, setting the less urgent information aside. Sometimes the basic emotional responses are based on our ââ¬Å"nurtureâ⬠, these can be unlearned; however, responses like turning our heads suddenly when we feel something moving on our side,

Case study - Essay Example Companies that opt for such media for adverts may be affected (Hanlon, 2015). The advancement in the use of internet has led to the existence of pricing options of products from companies. The use of online platform through internet provision is gradually and rapidly transforming economic aspects of operations of companies. HMV should apply both the physical stores and online platform to maximize it sales in the entertainment industry whose economy has been steadily rising (Hanlon, 2015). The HMV management should have a comprehension of the socially accepted practices within the various cultures that are available online in attempting to market their products. This includes appreciating the dynamics and differences and beliefs of societies within its online market since obtaining this is easier than before. It has the potential of not only creating opportunities but also opening new markets for the company (Hanlon, 2015). The company has a technological leverage in their internet site for retail which makes them competitive with other players/industries in the market. Its online store will likely be versatile as it will enable integration of window media player, iTunes, et cetera. In addition, infiltrating into the digital market is an innovative way of growing with the demand of the consumers. HMV anticipates enhancing their competitive leverage by diversifying experiences in the entertainment over the contemporary rivals. The group of HMV has a joint venture with companies such as Curzon Artificial Eye for the purpose of bring the experience of cinema to the retail outlets of the company (HMV, 2015). The production of DVDs and CDs should entail the use of materials that are both non-biodegradable and non-renewable. The recycling process has proved to be not only complex and costly but also inefficient. Moreover, CDs and DVDs with high storage

How to Describe Yourself Essay You could ask a hundred people to describe themselves and what they like least and most about themselves, and I bet you would get the same answer every time. People would say they are caring, sweet, loving, forgiving, nice, and respectful. The thing is though not everyone is what they say they are. Some people say they are forgiving but the still hold grudges and other may say they are truthful but tell that one white lie. So how can I describe myself to you? I would have to start with being honest about who I really am. I would describe myself as being honest, caring, loving, nurturing, forgiving, and a lot of other things. But I am not completely honest or completely loving or forgiving, no human being is. I tell that one white lie every now and again like: no that top looks great on you, or no you donââ¬â¢t look fat in those jeans. And to say that I am completely loving is not true either. There are some things I hate in life such as: tomatoes, bad hair days, and snow. Finally to say that I am forgiving would be a lie, I hold grudges longer than most people, and if you cross that certain line thereââ¬â¢s no coming back and there is no forgiveness for you. So to say I am completely truthful, loving or forgiving would be a lie in itself. The qualities I would like to see flourish and whither about myself are the same qualities everyone has. I would like to see my bad habits of biting nails, or eating when Iââ¬â¢m bored to wither away. But some of my best qualities I would like to see grow and expand are, being caring, putting others before myself, or helping someone in need whether my needs are more important or not. This entire thing comes back to what I describe myself as and how I really am. Some qualities about myself I want gone in a second but others I wouldnââ¬â¢t trade for the world. It all depends on how you view yourself. The qualities I like about myself the most are the fact that I can overlook whatever a person has done in their life and still see the good in them thatââ¬â¢s trying to break free. Also no matter when or where if someone needs help and I know I can help them I will do it no matter what the cost. On the other hand the qualities I donââ¬â¢t like about myself are just like everyone elseââ¬â¢s. I donââ¬â¢t like that fact that I have low self-esteem, or that I donââ¬â¢t have the same characteristics of other people. Also I donââ¬â¢t like that I sometimes judge a person just by looking at them and then I have my mind made up. But these are the qualities that make us human. Over all everyone has a good and bad quality about themself, no matter what race, religion, ethnic background ,everyone has something in common and that is the thing that makes us unique and separates us from each other. I wouldnââ¬â¢t trade any of my best characteristics or my good qualities. I would however change some of my bad qualities, or at least try to improve them. I as a human being have my ups and downs and have my flaws but thatââ¬â¢s what makes me so special and so unique. So asking me to describe myself as a human being is really a trick question because itââ¬â¢s all a matter of my own opinion mixed with how the world sees me.

Fear; whether looked at as a positive or negative fear is undoubtedly a driving force for action. To fight or fly past this strange and sometimes crippling emotion can be challenge. It will never leave the back of your mind unless you take action. I was in fourth grade at the time my Grandfather was struggling with dialysis. I remember walking into the room where he received treatment and being scared to the point of tears of the sickly, pale and disable people also in the room.
